Pitching to for-profit investors and development donor organizations

Kai Hockerts, Professor, Copenhagen Business School

How would you pitch differently to for-profit investors and development donor organization?

This is an inherent fund raising tension that social enterprises face. If you portrait a potentially lucrative investment opportunity, charitable organizations will not provide grants for your organization. If you stress the need for charity, philanthropy, you will find it difficult to attract for-profit investors. This is a challenge which has to be dealt with in your business plan.

This blog post is based on my learnings from the course on ‘social entrepreneurship’ offered by Copenhagen Business School through Coursera (2014).
